Wetherby Racecourse

Wetherby Racecourse

Wetherby Racecourse is one of the oldest racecourse in England located near the market town of Wetherby and 12 miles from Leeds city center. Opened in March 1891 it has been hosting National Hunt races, where horses are required to jump ditches and fences but in April 2015 it hosted its first ever Flat racing event. Flat racing events are more involving as compared to the steeplechase events as it tests speed, skills and stigma. The jockey decides when to impel or restrain the horse during the race.

The racecourse is an oval left handed racing course of about one and a half mile all round and the fences are considered to be a bit stiff hence more exciting experience.

The National Hunt racing calendar starts in mid October and ends in May. With the fine hospitality facilities this will be a great place to spend with family members and friends as you get to watch some of the most competent Jockeys take their horses to the field.
In April 2015 they staged a flat racing event.
