Market Rasen Racecourse
Market Rasen Racecourse is a nice racecourse located in Market Rasen, Lincolnshire in The UK. It hosts a series of National Hunt races widely screened by Racing UK. The tracks are right- handed taking an oval shape with a circumference of one-and-a-quarter miles. Several racing activities are staged here although National Hunt races are always held during the winter seasons.
It is until 1924 that Market Rasen Racecourse was permanently located in its current location. The meetings of Brocklesby, Burton, and Southwold had a great influence on the choosing of the name of the racecourse. A team of four men joined hands in raising money to buy fifty acres of land to put the racecourse. Fifty more acres were rented and used for the day use of the races. This rented land run was purchased later. The racecourse was managed by Victor Lucas from 1945 up to his death in 1991. Most of the installations he put in place are still in good shape today. A total of twelve meeting were held at this time after being increased from the original three in a year. These meeting included the Boxing Day and Easter Monday meetings. Racecourse Holdings Trust, which is currently known as Jockey Club, bought the racecourse in 1967. Since then, Jockey Club has managed the racecourse and produced some of the best jockeys in the world.
