Bath Racecourse: The Highest Altitude Racecourse in Britain


Bath Racecourse islocated on Landsdown Hill in Somerset North of Bath in the United Kingdom. The property’s owner is Arena Racing Company, a private company created after merging Northern Racing and Arena Leisure in 2012.


Bath Racecourse is flat and left-handed with 1mile, 4 furlongs and 25 yards length. It further has a run-in nearly a half-a- mile long. This is the highest racecourse in Britain with an altitude of 238 meters above sea level. It has has been operational for over 200 years with the first race in 1728. It was converted into a landing field for the Royal Air Force during the World War II.


The facility provides an exciting way to relax over the weekend by flat racing and premier hospitality. It is a very busy place with many races as it has hosted 21 fixtures between April and October. There is real fun for all here as it has facilities for adults and children. Booking in advance will cost you £2 while entry for children is free. Some of the most notable races here include the popular Ladies day race on 22nd August sponsored by Imagine Cruising & Holland America Line and Lansdown Fillies’ Stakes that covers over 1,006 meters and takes place every year in April. There two activities have attracted thousands of participants over the years.
